The Merit Story

Every person's story can inspire someone else — to tackle a new challenge, embark on a different path, or pursue lofty dreams. At Merit, we make it easy for stories of success to reach and inspire others. Merit's network of stakeholders have a shared interest in student success, and Merit's technology allows those stakeholders to create, see, and share stories about individual students.

Merit on the Road

Working at Merit

We’re proud of the work we do and want you to be proud to work with us. Working at Merit means that you’ll be treated as a peer and a grownup, someone able and trusted to use your talents and good judgement to help us thrive. You can check out our employee handbook if you’d like to see how we manage ourselves and our business, or you can get in touch if you want to be part of our team.

Data Entry & Research Associate

Data Entry & Research Associate

We’re looking for a new team member to join Merit’s User Experience Team for a research and data entry role. This is an hourly position that we’re looking to fill immediately.

As part of the team you will maintain an internal database of news organizations, government representatives, high schools, and more, to determine if the information on file is up to date, and track down the correct information to use if it is out of date. In addition you’ll be responsible for other types of data entry projects on an as needed basis.

You must be:

  • Ready for new challenges, good at working independently, and ready to jump right in with our team. We’re looking for a can-do positive attitude, and a strong independent work ethic.
  • Proficient and very adept at online research.
  • Not afraid of the phone. Sure, most communications happen online today, but you should be comfortable and not hesitant to make phone calls to update information when required.
  • Adept at using online software and good at web related tasks in general. We’re a small team with no IT department. Fluency with MacOS is a plus

If you work at Merit, you’ll be part of a small but fast-growing company that has developed a distinctively excellent product that you can see at

We offer:

  • a culture of respect, kindness, and responsibility
  • the ability to see your work have meaningful results
  • competitive pay and benefits
  • flexible personal time
  • a beautiful, informal work environment in Albany’s warehouse district - the kind of workspace your friends will envy

Please send us a letter introducing yourself if you're interested in this position. The letter is important: we're going to look at it as a writing sample. You don't have to overthink it, but please do consider it as an important part of how we get to know you. A resume is useful, too. If it seems like there's a fit, we'll respond with more details about the nuts and bolts of the job and invite you in for an interview. You can send your letter to
